Prof. Dr. Tilko Dietert

Lean Innovation, Plastics, and Trade Compliance

Prof. Dr. Tilko Dietert is a professor at FOM University of Applied Sciences in Nuremberg, specializing in Mechanical Engineering, Business IT, and Lean Management, and the owner of Lean Management Consulting (LMC). His consulting focus is on optimizing product development and production processes in industrial environments. In doing so, he combines lean management approaches with solid technical expertise and a deep understanding of operational processes. He is also the Managing Partner of KALIPZO GmbH, a provider of a lean ERP system for small and medium-sized businesses.

With more than 20 years of experience in industry, including many years in technical management, Prof. Dr. Dietert brings a broad range of expertise — from manufacturing technology, especially plastics processing, to product development and the organization of complex value creation processes.

One of his strengths is the ability to connect theory and practice. As a university professor, he contributes current academic insights, while his practical experience ensures that all solutions are feasible in day-to-day operations and make sound economic sense.

Another key area of his consulting work is customs compliance, especially tariff classification, rules of origin, and preferential trade arrangements, as well as export control, particularly the assessment of products regarding dual-use regulations and country-specific embargo lists. He also advises companies on process organization, pragmatic IT solutions, and the acquisition of authorizations and certifications such as AEO and EA.

My clients come to me when they want to improve their technical and organizational processes in a holistic way. They are not looking for standard concepts, but for solutions based on sound analysis that truly work within the company. What they value most is the combination of technical expertise, a structured approach, and the ability to make complex interrelationships understandable and actionable.
